Ryan & Harriet’s Client Journey. There is something so lovely to be able to add heirloom stones to a ring to make it extra special. Ryan did just that knowing it would mean so much to Harriet to have them in her engagement ring.
How did you feel when you had to start looking for an engagement ring?
I was excited to find a ring for Harriet but I was absolutely clueless about engagement rings! I knew that Harriet would want something unique and with a story behind it but I initially struggled to find this when looking online at some of the larger jewellers. It became clear to me that I needed to find an independent jeweller which is when I found Steph!
How did you hear about Stephanie Stevens Jewellery?
Both Harriet and I are from Cornwall so I was very keen to have a bespoke ring made in the county. After a Google search, I found Steph’s website which looked exactly what I was after! She had a great portfolio of engagement rings on her website with lots of glowing testimonials and her ethos really alligned with mine.

Why was it important for you to have a bespoke ring?
I wanted something that was completely unique and made specifically for Harriet. As part of Harriet’s ring, I also wanted to include some diamonds that were owned by a close family member of Harriet’s who recently passed away. I wanted a jeweller who I could trust to remove these diamonds from the existing ring and incorporate them into Harriet’s engagement ring.
Main reason you chose Stephanie to design and make your ring?
I was really impressed with the work Steph displays on her website and so I decided to contact her to have a chat. Steph was very easily contactable and we arranged a Zoom meeting at a time that suited me. She is extremely friendly and made me feel immediately at ease speaking about something which was quite out of my comfort zone! Her first priority was to hear about Harriet and what ideas I had for the design of the ring. She made sure I was aware of all the options at every stage of the desing process, showing me lots of examples of specific design features from previous rings and advised me when I asked for it. On a personal note, I had always planned to propose at Godrevy Beach which is directly across the bay from where Steph’s workship is in St. Ives and so the fact that the ring would be created in touching distance was extra special for Harriet and I!
What was it like receiving the photos of your ring being made and how did it make you feel?
It is incredible to see the transformation of the initial raw materials into the finished product! A particularly exciting moment was when I saw the diamond for the first time. Steph seeks to create rings with deep personal meaning, and seeing the ring being handcrafted with all the work and skill that goes into it certainly makes the final product all the more special.
Your favourite part of the journey?
Very cliche but receiving the ring in the post and seeing the final product was incredible. Steph absolutely nailed the design of the ring and after seeing the ring in the flesh, it is clear she is a seriously talented jeweller.
Any tips you can give to partners looking for engagement rings?
I am just repeating what Steph told me but going with your instinct is my best advice! And honestly, creating and giving a bespoke ring such as the ones Steph crafts makes the ring super special, regardless of the design.

Tell us about the proposal 🙂Â
Ryan: I packed a picnic brunch for us to have at the beach but the weather didnt really play ball! Luckily the rain held off and the beach actually ended up being deserted which made it more special!
Harriet: I had an inkling as he was being a bit weird and was being extremely obsessed with the weather. Godrevy was where we spent a lot of time during the summers at school and uni so it’s always been a special place, it was where I was hoping he’d propose. After he asked and I said “probably” the sun came out and it was lovely! There was noone else on the beach so it was really special!
How does it feel now you have your dream ring?
Harriet: I couldn’t have told you what my dream ring was and I was always very unspecific if it ever came up with Ry. Partly because I’m the MOST indecisive person and have never known what I wanted (bring on wedding planning!) and partly because I wanted Ry to pick something himself that he liked and thought was special! He couldn’t have done a better job, I’m obsessed! I spend my entire tube journey to work holding onto the hand rail watching it sparkle in the light!
What does your ring mean to you?
Harriet: It’s perfect! I love the added touch of included diamonds that belonged to a special family member. I love that he designed it himself and the thought that went into it. I also love that it was made and designed by someone in Cornwall as it’s where we both grew up and I love how SPARKLY it is !!!!!
